The launch of GTA 6 has already caused one unexpected casualty — but not in the way you might think. A California-based performance tuning company has officially shut down for the day so its employees can play Rockstar’s upcoming open-world epic.

A Company-Wide “Operational Pause”
Burger Motorsports, a performance tuning company in Simi Valley, California, has announced it will be closing its doors on 19 November 2026 — the scheduled release date of GTA 6.
The statement, shared by a Reddit user, reads: “To all staff, customers, dealers, and partners, Burger Motorsports will be observing a temporary company-wide operational pause on Thursday, November 19, 2026.”
The reasoning? “After reviewing multiple employee scheduling conflicts, management has determined that normal business operations may be impacted due to the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. Several team members have already notified management that they will be unavailable, unreachable, and/or ‘in Vice City’ for the duration of the day.”
The statement ends with a surprisingly understanding note: “Normal business operations are expected to resume once employees have completed their initial exploration, finished at least one mission, and returned to reality. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this unprecedented cultural event.”
A “Cultural Event” Like No Other
It’s rare to see a company willing to sacrifice a full day of income — let alone put it in writing — just so employees can play a video game. But GTA VI is not your everyday release. With over a decade of anticipation, multiple delays, and a budget reportedly exceeding $2 billion, the game has transcended typical entertainment to become a genuine cultural phenomenon.
The Burger Motorsports decision reflects a broader reality: for millions of people, 19 November 2026 has become a date circled on calendars, a day when normal life takes a backseat to digital crime sprees in Vice City.
The Third Delay Fear
While the company’s shutdown is a lighthearted example of the game’s cultural impact, it also highlights the stakes. If Rockstar were to delay GTA VI for a third time, the chaos would be immense. Businesses like Burger Motorsports would have to reschedule their shutdowns. Employees who booked time off would be left with empty days. The entire global rhythm of anticipation would be disrupted once again.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly reaffirmed the 19 November date, stating in the latest earnings call: “I’ve been saying the launch date is November 19. We reaffirmed that today. We feel very good about that date.” But as fans know all too well, nothing is guaranteed until the game is in hand.

A Game Worth Waiting For
Despite the delays, the excitement remains undimmed. A recent Glassdoor review from a former employee revealed the intense pressure at Rockstar — tasks that normally take 5-6 months are expected in 2-3, with staff working until 3am. But the company is clearly committed to delivering a polished experience.
The launch window is set. The marketing campaign is expected to begin this summer. And when 19 November finally arrives, players around the world — including the staff at Burger Motorsports — will be ready to explore Vice City.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version has not yet been announced.
