The length of GTA 6‘s in-game days has reportedly leaked, and it looks like Rockstar Games is giving players far more time to explore Vice City and cause chaos than ever before.

According to the latest GTA VI leak, a full in-game day could be three times longer than those in GTA V, potentially making the open-world experience feel more dynamic and immersive than previously thought.
In recent weeks, we’ve seen all sorts of GTA 6 gameplay details allegedly leak, from nudists appearing on the beach to the return of mechanics from Max Payne 3. Rockstar Games has struggled to contain the leaks, with the company even said to have sent lawyers to the homes of some gamers in an attempt to identify those responsible.
Here’s How Long the In-Game Day Could Last in GTA 6
As picked up by eGamers (via Reddit user tallicahet81), the alleged GTA 6 gameplay leak claims Rockstar has significantly increased the length of its daily cycles compared to GTA V.
If accurate, the change could give players more time to explore Vice City, take part in activities and watch the world transition between day and night. It could also make GTA VI‘s open world feel more alive, with players having longer stretches of in-game time to experience everything Rockstar Games has packed into Vice City.
Across the many GTA VI gameplay leaks circulating online, the mini-map can be seen in the corner of the screen, a familiar feature that has remained a staple of the Grand Theft Auto series for years. Based on the footage, tallicahet81 has worked out that a single in-game minute lasts approximately six seconds in real time.
That would mean a full in-game day in GTA VI lasts around 144 minutes, or roughly two hours and 24 minutes, in real time. By comparison, a full day in GTA V, which originally launched in 2013, lasts around 48 real-time minutes. If these calculations are accurate, that would make GTA VI‘s day-night cycle approximately three times longer than GTA V‘s.
“Based on the seventh leak: at the 55-second mark, the in-game time shows 7:29 AM (minimap). At the 1:01 mark, it changes to 7:30 AM. That means one in-game minute passes in six seconds of real time, which would make the full day-night cycle 144 minutes, three times longer than GTA V’s 48-minute cycle.”
What This Means for Gameplay
A longer day-night cycle has significant implications for how players will experience Vice City. In GTA V, the 48-minute cycle meant that time of day dictated what could transpire around the map — mornings brought open stores and commuters, evenings saw nightclubs and bars come alive, and nighttime brought increased dangers.
With a 144-minute cycle, GTA VI could offer:
- More time to explore without feeling rushed by rapid time shifts
- Longer periods of specific lighting conditions for photography and atmosphere
- More realistic simulation of NPC routines and world events
- A greater sense of immersion in the world of Leonida
The extended cycle could also make certain activities — like those that require specific times of day — feel less rushed and more intentional.
Fans React to the Leak
Following the leak, fans have been largely positive about the change. On Reddit, one comment read: “Good, I don’t like it when it goes from day to night really quickly.” Another agreed: “48-min cycle in 5 was way too fast.” A third added: “That’s a genuinely awesome amount of time.”

A Note of Caution
It’s worth stressing that the length of a day in GTA VI has not been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games, so these calculations should be taken with a pinch of salt.
That said, the figures do appear to line up with what we’ve seen in the leaked gameplay footage. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer for a definitive answer, with Rockstar’s GTA VI ‘Extended Look’ on Netflix on August 27 potentially giving us more insight into the game’s day-night cycle.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
