Ubisoft has released a deep dive into Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the upcoming remake of the beloved 2013 pirate epic. While the core experience remains faithful, the developer has expanded several systems – from the Great Inagua hideout to Templar Hunts – and introduced new missions that add depth without bloating the adventure. Here’s what you need to know before setting sail on July 9.

Great Inagua: A Hideout That Grows With You
The original Black Flag allowed players to upgrade Edward Kenway’s hideout on Great Inagua, but Resynced takes it much further. The village now evolves visually as you invest, becoming more lived‑in with added NPCs, unique characters like the butler Bernard Woodhouse, and new upgradable buildings.
The General Store now has three levels of progression, each changing its appearance and expanding its inventory. New additions include the Fisherman’s Wharf and a Treasure Dealer, offering fresh ways to spend your hard‑earned reales. The Harbormaster, Campfire, and Tavern also return, but with enhanced functionality. The goal is to make Great Inagua feel like a true home base, reflecting your success as a pirate captain.
New Missions and Recruitable Officers
Three brand‑new officers can be recruited for the Jackdaw. Two become available after unlocking Great Inagua, while the third appears closer to the endgame. Each has a special mission tied to their recruitment, adding more story content.
Ubisoft has also expanded the roles of historical pirates like Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet, giving them additional screen time and missions. These additions are woven seamlessly into the narrative, offering more depth without disrupting the original’s pacing.
Stealth Overhaul: No More Instant Failure
One of the most welcome changes is the rework of tailing and eavesdropping missions. In the original, being spotted meant an instant game over. In Resynced, detection now triggers combat – you can fight your way out and still complete the objective. This removes a major frustration point while keeping stealth meaningful.
Templar Hunts and Contracts have also been redesigned to better integrate with the improved parkour and stealth systems. You can now skip time to change the time of day, using darkness for a stealthy approach or sunset for a cinematic view.
Visuals and Performance
Built in the modern Anvil Engine, Resynced features dynamic weather, enhanced lighting, and 4K/60fps performance. Load times are drastically reduced, and the Caribbean feels more alive than ever.
