AMD May Be Adding a Slower, Cheaper 8‑Core X3D: Ryzen 7 7700X3D Surfaces
AMD’s 3D V‑Cache lineup on AM5 may soon grow with a new entry. Hardware leaker chi11eddog has shared specifications for a Ryzen 7 7700X3D processor, an 8‑core, 16‑thread Zen 4 chip with a 120W TDP and 96MB of L3 cache (32MB + 64MB 3D V‑Cache).
According to the leak, the processor would run at a 4.0 GHz base clock and a 4.5 GHz boost clock. That is noticeably slower than the existing Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which AMD officially lists with a 4.2 GHz base and 5.0 GHz boost – a 200 MHz lower base and 500 MHz lower boost.
A Lower‑Tier X3D Part
The 7800X3D currently sells for around $330–360, making it one of the most popular gaming CPUs on the market. A Ryzen 7 7700X3D, if it materialises, would likely be positioned below it – perhaps as a lower‑bin part for OEMs, or as a region‑specific model (similar to the Ryzen 5 5600X3D and 5700X3D on AM4).
