Palworld has officially exited Early Access, and its 1.0 update is now available on all supported platforms. After two years of development, Pocketpair has delivered what may be the most transformative update in the game’s history — a colossal patch that introduces dozens of new Pals, massive new zones, reworked systems, and a wealth of quality-of-life improvements.

A Patch Notes Behemoth
The scale of this update is staggering. Pocketpair initially estimated that the 1.0 patch notes would span 27 PDF pages — and the final list is every bit as extensive as promised. From new creatures to complete system overhauls, version 1.0 fundamentally changes almost every aspect of the game.
72 New Pals Join the Roster
One of the most exciting additions is the introduction of 72 new Pals. The total Paldeck now exceeds 200 creatures, giving players an unprecedented variety of companions to capture, train, and deploy. Many of these new Pals feature unique designs and abilities that expand the game’s strategic depth.
Two New Major Zones: Sunreach and the World Tree
The map has expanded significantly with two entirely new regions:
- Sunreach: A group of floating islands located east of Feybreak Island, teeming with new Pals and rare crafting materials.
- The World Tree: The mysterious landmark that has been teased since Early Access is finally accessible. Players must defeat all eight tower bosses scattered across the Palpagos Islands to unlock this endgame area.
Overhauled Boss Fights and Story Flow
The game’s mission structure and story progression have been completely reworked. Each tower boss now features:
- Updated arenas with fresh visual designs
- New animations for more dynamic encounters
- A shortened battle time limit — reduced from 10 minutes to just 5 minutes
Pal Wildlife Sanctuaries Get a Major Upgrade
The Pal Wildlife Sanctuaries have been completely redesigned. They are now covered in barriers and feature unique biomes that offer different Pals and crafting materials. Powerful Pals such as Grizzbolt and Astegon now appear as bosses in these sanctuaries, requiring players to come prepared for tougher fights.
New landmarks, including ancient ruins, small settlements, and watchtowers, have been added throughout the Palpagos Islands to enrich exploration.
New Systems: Awakening and Mutation
Two major new systems have been introduced:
- Awakening: Allows players to further customise their Pals
- Mutation: Adds another layer of depth to Pal progression
Type Changes and Design Updates
Several Pals have received significant updates:
- Lovander has been changed from a Normal-type to a Dark-type Pal
- Verdash, Robinquill, and Fenglope now feature updated character designs
- Multiple Pal Partner Skills and Passive Skills have been reworked
Level Cap Raised to 80
The player level cap has been increased from 65 to 80. New items have been added to spend both Technology Points and Ancient Technology Points on. Players can earn:
- Ancient Technology Points by defeating world boss Pals and tower bosses
- Standard Technology Points by levelling up or spending Successful Bounty Tokens
Save Files and Price
Pocketpair has confirmed that Early Access save files will carry over, but the developer strongly recommends starting a fresh save to fully experience all the changes. Existing saves will work, but the early-game experience has been rebalanced so significantly that a new playthrough is the best way to appreciate the full scope of the update.
In a welcome move, Pocketpair has confirmed that Palworld will keep its $29.99 price — no price hike for the 1.0 launch. The game is also currently available on Steam at a 30% discount ($20.99) until July 23.
