Geralt and Yennefer’s Surprising Age Gap in The Witcher – Bigger Than You Think!

In The Witcher universe, time works differently—especially for witchers and sorceresses. Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerberg, one of fantasy’s most iconic couples, have a love story that spans decades (or even centuries). But just how big is their age gap?

The answer changes depending on whether you’re reading the books, playing the games, or watching the Netflix series. And the difference might surprise you.

Geralt & Yennefer’s Ages in the Books

In Andrzej Sapkowski’s original novels:

  • Geralt is around 57 years old by the end of the saga.
  • Yennefer, however, is approximately 94 years old—making her 37 years older than Geralt.

Despite the gap, their chemistry is undeniable, proving that age is just a number when you’re both magically enhanced.

The Games Flip the Script

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt follows the books’ timeline, keeping their ages consistent. But by this point, both characters are well over a century old in terms of life experience—just with the benefit of slowed aging.

Netflix’s The Witcher Changes Things

The TV adaptation takes liberties with the timeline. By the end of the series (if it follows the books’ events):

  • Geralt will be 108 years old.
  • Yennefer will be 76 years old—making Geralt 32 years older this time!

Funny enough, the show reverses the age gap from the books. Yet, thanks to magic and mutations, neither looks a day over 35.

Why Does the Age Gap Matter?

In a world where sorceresses halt their aging and witchers live for centuries, age gaps are meaningless. What truly binds Geralt and Yennefer is their centuries of shared history, love, and conflict—not numbers.

What About The Witcher 4?

With The Witcher 4 (Polaris) expected to focus on a new saga (possibly featuring Ciri), we may not see Geralt and Yennefer as central characters. But if they return, how much older will they be? And will their age gap widen even further?

Whether Geralt is younger or older than Yennefer, their bond remains one of fantasy’s greatest love stories. And let’s be honest—after decades (or centuries) together, a few years here or there don’t make much difference.
