Following the huge reveal of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay, courtesy of Netflix’s Extended Look, fans have been sent into a frenzy over the role of Jason, resparking a popular theory that would see Rockstar dip back into its deep book of tricks.

Already, we know that the famed developers are dipping into their archives to bless GTA 6 with popular features from previous games, just on a much bigger scale. The epitome of that is the Criminal Profile system, which will teach players how to maintain a relationship and ensure the Bonnie-and-Clyde power duo of Jason and Lucia can thrive in their lawless adventures.
Whipped right out of the Red Dead Redemption 2 wheelhouse, the system will make players maintain relationships, shroud their crimes from the police force, and find innovative ways to ensure you don’t become Vice City’s Most Wanted.
But fans have quickly theorised that another Red Dead 2 secret could be reused in GTA VI: a second map.
GTA 6 Fans Think a Guarma-Style Second Map Is Being Hidden
In Red Dead Redemption 2, players are whisked away to a Caribbean-style island known as Guarma, although the additional section is strictly a story location rather than an open-world section. It’s theorised that Rockstar wanted to expand across Guarma, but that’s a debate for another day.
The same has happened in other GTA games, and now GTA 6 fans think we’re getting the same treatment in a bid to uncover one of the biggest plot twists yet, despite the map size blowing RDR2 out of the water.
Taking to Reddit, players have reopened discussions about ‘The Other City’ and how it ties to Jason.
“In most of the games by Rockstar, there has been at least one mission set in a city completely separate from the map. In San Andreas it was Liberty City, in GTA 5 it was North Yankton, in RDR 2 it was Guarma. What do you guys think we’ll get?” — Reddit user
Many users claimed that Cuba, Hawaii, Bermuda, Haiti, or the Dominican Republic are natural expansions to the map, being geographically close to Miami.
One user tied it back to Lucia and how her history ties to previous GTA games:
“I would love for there to somehow be a mission set in the same place but back in time. Just a brief jaunt back to the Vice City 80s.”
The Theory: Jason’s Double Identity
The main reason for a second map is to hide Jason’s double identity. For a long time, GTA 6 hopefuls have theorised that either Jason or Lucia is living a second life, being undercover as either a cop or a rival gang member.
Details of Lucia being tied to a cartel family have been uncovered in the Extended Look, ruling her out as a secret identity, and attention has turned to the more restrained character, Jason.
In the trailers and gameplay revealed so far, Jason has been the more careful and calculated character that reels in Lucia’s gung-ho criminality, and people now think that the reason is to protect his other team. The theory has been spinning for three years, and as we approach the final hours of pretense, it’s looking more probable than ever.
A second location could give Jason a chance to recoup or connect with other characters that he keeps secret from Lucia, which will be unveiled deep into the massive storyline.

What This Means for the Story
If the theory holds true, the revelation could be one of the biggest twists in the series. The idea of a second map is not just about geographical expansion — it’s about narrative depth.
While the second map theory remains speculation, the possibility of a major character twist would be a fitting addition to a game that promises to be Rockstar’s most ambitious project yet.
Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
