It has been nearly a year since the last official GTA 6 trailer, and the community is officially scraping the bottom of the barrel for new information. How desperate? One fan has taken it upon themselves to count every single tree visible in a single frame of the trailer.

The Great Tree Census
Reddit user Temporary-Cicada-392 posted their findings after what must have been hours of painstaking work. According to their analysis, a single shot from the GTA 6 trailer contains 14,287 trees. The user admitted the count could be off by “maybe a couple hundred,” but the effort alone is staggering.
Their stated goal was to “get a real metric on the map density.” Based on this one frame, they concluded that the game’s engine is producing foliage four times as dense as what was seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Desperate Times, Desperate Measures
Counting trees in a trailer might sound absurd, but it’s a symptom of a fanbase starved for updates. The last major trailer dropped in May 2025. Since then, Rockstar has been nearly silent, only confirming the November 19 release date and promising a summer marketing campaign.
Fans have already analyzed every pixel of every screenshot, dissected job listings, and theorized about everything from the moon’s size to the physics of glass shattering. Tree counting is simply the next logical (or illogical) step.

What the Trees Might Mean
If the foliage density is indeed quadruple that of Red Dead Redemption 2, it suggests a world far more lush and detailed than anything Rockstar has built before. Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida appear to be teeming with vegetation, which could translate to denser forests, more realistic swamps, and a greater sense of immersion.
Of course, this is all speculation based on a single promotional frame. The final game’s performance could vary, and foliage density may not be uniform across the map. But for desperate fans, any crumb of analysis is a feast.

The Long Road to November
The next major update is expected during Take‑Two Interactive’s earnings call in May, where the release date will likely be reaffirmed—or potentially delayed further. Until then, expect more deep dives into trailer details. Next up: counting the individual blades of grass on a Vice City sidewalk.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC release date has not been announced.
