What Is Corsair Cove?

Developed by Limbic Entertainment — the studio behind Tropico 6 and Park Beyond — and published by Hooded Horse, Corsair Cove is a pirate-themed city-builder set during the Golden Age of Piracy. The game challenges you to build a sprawling pirate haven on a remote island, but with a unique twist: instead of spreading across flat land, you construct your settlement vertically on cliffs and hillsides, connecting buildings with a network of bridges, ladders, and ziplines.

“Corsair Cove is a city builder that challenges you to think tall as you build without constraints on cliff-faces and hilltops, and manage complex production chains that span across great lengths and heights.”

The game blends the logistical depth of Anno with the vertical building of The Settlers, all wrapped in a pirate-themed package. You’ll manage production chains for everything from rum to flintlock pistols, keep your rowdy crew satisfied, and assemble a fleet to take on the Crown.

Key Features

  • Vertical City-Building: Construct your pirate refuge on cliffs and hills, connecting buildings with bridges, ziplines, and ladders.
  • Complex Production Chains: Manufacture goods from spyglasses to cannons, managing supply lines across your island.
  • Turn-Based Naval Exploration: Send ships to raid nearby islands, hunt for treasure, and wage war against the Crown.
  • Four Progression Paths: Develop your society along four “compass points” — Notoriety, Empire, Seafaring, and Wealth — each unlocking new buildings, ships, and missions.
  • Dynamic Crew Management: Keep your pirates happy with rum, prosthetics, and other essentials to avoid mutiny.

Release Date and Price

Corsair Cove launched on July 31, 2026, for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. It is also available day one on PC Game Pass.

Early Reception

Corsair Cove has already surpassed 500,000 wishlists on Steam ahead of its launch. Early reviews have praised its innovative vertical building mechanics and pirate atmosphere. IGN called it an “Aufbau-Überraschung” (building surprise), while Destructoid noted it does “good work in making it feel like a living pirate adventure”.

PC Games Germany awarded the game a strong review, praising its blend of Anno-style production chains with vertical construction, though noting that the adventure and exploration elements could have been more fleshed out.

Early player feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. One Steam user commented, “This is hands-down THE most unique pirate-themed building mechanics game to date”, while another added, “I’m loving it so far!”

Is It Coming to Consoles?

Currently, Corsair Cove is a PC exclusive and has not been announced for PlayStation or Xbox consoles. It is, however, available on PC Game Pass for subscribers.
