Nearly a month after its release, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has received a new patch that directly responds to two of the community’s most vocal requests. Title Update 1.0.6, which went live on August 4, 2026, introduces a long-awaited cosmetic option and restores a beloved feature that was quietly broken in a previous update.

Finally, You Can Hide the Blowpipe
The headline addition of Update 1.0.6 is the ability to hide the blowpipe from Edward Kenway’s back. Since launch, players have complained that the weapon, which is strapped to Edward at all times, clutters up his character model and clashes with certain outfits.
With the new patch installed, you can now access your outfit in the inventory and select the “Hide Gear” option (R2 on PlayStation) to make the blowpipe disappear. If you change your mind or prefer the original look on certain outfits, you can simply toggle it back on with the “Show Gear” option. This change is purely cosmetic — the blowpipe still functions exactly the same in combat.
The Hood Toggle Is Back
Update 1.0.6 also fixes something the community has been far less happy about. Title Update 1.0.4 quietly broke the ability to toggle Edward’s hood while diving and performing leaps of faith — a small touch that let players pull the hood up or down mid-animation for a more cinematic look.
Ubisoft never mentioned removing it, and fans spent weeks asking for it back on Reddit and social media. The hood toggle is now restored to working order and should function during dives and leaps just like it did at launch.
Quality-of-Life Improvements and Bug Fixes
Beyond these two headline changes, the patch delivers a solid round of maintenance and stability improvements:
- Autosave slots have doubled from 5 to 10, giving players more room to roll back if a save gets corrupted mid-quest.
- PC cutscene framerate issues have been fixed, addressing a problem where cutscenes could be locked at 30 FPS when graphics settings were set to ‘custom’ from any ‘Low’ presets.
- A missing tutorial on how to ‘Throw Money’ has been added.
- The Kraken ship wheel’s incorrectly listed cost has been corrected, with Ubisoft joking in the patch notes that it was “wheely expensive”.
- A PSSR bug on PS5 Pro, where saves brought from PS5 to PS5 Pro weren’t properly enabled, has been fixed.
The patch also includes dozens of fixes across gameplay, world design, UI, audio, localization, and specific quests. Patch sizes vary by platform: 15.2 GB on Xbox Series X|S, 5.03 GB on PlayStation 5, and 1.8 GB on Steam.

A Franchise Listening to Its Fans
This update builds on the strong momentum that Black Flag Resynced has enjoyed since launch. The remake reportedly sold over 3 million copies in its first week alone. That success has likely encouraged Ubisoft to move quickly on community-driven complaints like the blowpipe and hood toggle instead of letting them linger.
It’s a good look for a franchise that has taken its share of criticism over the years, and it suggests Ubisoft is committed to supporting this remake with the kind of fan-focused updates that keep a game from accumulating rough edges over time.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
