Intel’s Mid-Cycle Refresh Gets a Massive Price Cut
The Arrow Lake “Plus” series had a rocky start, with the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus launching above its recommended price. Now, just a few months later, a significant correction has made it one of the best values in the CPU market.

A Rocky Start for Arrow Lake Refresh
Intel officially announced the Core Ultra 200S Plus series on March 11, with retail availability beginning on March 26. The launch added the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plus to the Arrow Lake desktop lineup. However, initial retail pricing was a point of contention. The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, which was positioned as a high-value gaming and productivity chip, quickly sold for well above its recommended price. It was seen at retailers like Newegg and Amazon for as much as $350, a significant markup from its intended price point.
The Price Has Finally Dropped
Now, just a few months after its launch, the situation has reversed. A current Amazon deal lists the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus at $264.99 with free shipping. This new price represents a significant discount. It’s a $35 drop from the lower end of Intel’s $299 recommended price.
This isn’t the chip’s first discount, but it is its most aggressive. The CPU had previously seen a price drop to $280 in May, and this latest deal pushes it even lower to a new record low. The price cut is likely tied to Amazon’s Prime Day sales event, making it a prime opportunity for an upgrade.
Why the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is a Steal at $264.99
For those unfamiliar with the chip, here’s what you’re getting for under $270. The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is a 24-core desktop processor, featuring 8 Performance cores and 16 Efficient cores. It can reach a turbo frequency of up to 5.5 GHz and includes 36MB of Intel Smart Cache. It also supports fast DDR5-7200 memory right out of the box.

This core configuration is identical to that of the much more expensive flagship Core Ultra 9 285K, making the 270K Plus a phenomenal value for both gaming and productivity workloads. In fact, its productivity performance is said to beat several more expensive AMD Ryzen CPUs, including the Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 9 9900X.

A Bright Spot in a Challenging Market
This price drop is a welcome relief for PC builders. It comes at a time when many other PC components are seeing price increases due to ongoing supply chain issues and the “RAMpocalypse”. For a 24-core processor with flagship-tier specs to be available for just $265, it represents one of the best deals in the current hardware landscape. If you are building a new system or looking for a significant upgrade, this is an opportunity that is hard to ignore.
