The Elder Scrolls – Oblivion Remastered Gets Surprise Multiplayer Mode, Changes Everything

You can buddy up with friends in The Elder Scrolls Online, but have you ever dreamt of teaming up in one of Bethesda’s mainline franchise entries? For twenty years, Cyrodiil has been a world for heroes walking alone. That is about to change in a big way.

A new sandbox platform called ReadyM is bringing a full-fledged multiplayer experience to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered later this year. If the name sounds familiar, it should. It’s from the UK-based modding team ReadyCode, the same group behind the wildly successful WukongMP for Black Myth: Wukong, which has already racked up over 12 million views and 100,000 multiplayer playthroughs.

This isn’t just a simple co-op mod. Think of it as the FiveM for Oblivion. The platform will give players, modders, and server owners the tools to build entirely new multiplayer worlds inside the game we already love. We’re talking about the ability to create cooperative campaigns to explore Tamriel with friends, operate custom role-playing servers with unique rules and cultures, build guild territories and in-game economies, design new quests, and even create PvP arenas.

The Creator of FiveM Is Involved

What makes this project truly significant is the pedigree behind it. ReadyCode is co-founded by Michael Szklarski, the creator of the first GTA V multiplayer mod (GT-MP, which later evolved into the massive FiveM platform). He understands the grassroots tradition of modding better than almost anyone.

“Modders have sustained Elder Scrolls for nearly 20 years,” Szklarski said in a press release. “There’s an incredible grassroots tradition of teams building multiplayer experiences for games they love, and ReadyM is eager to give those creators real infrastructure, allowing them to focus on imagination instead of netcode, hosting and constant breakage. ReadyM is built by modders, for modders”.

Big Backing, Big Ambitions

This isn’t a shoestring operation. ReadyCode has secured over $3 million in seed funding from an impressive group of investors, including the Sony Innovation Fund, Lifelike Capital, and London Venture Partners. This backing shows serious confidence in the vision of transforming beloved single-player games into enduring multiplayer platforms.

ReadyM empowers communities to expand beloved game IPs with new multiplayer experiences,” said Antonio Avitabile, managing director of Sony Ventures EMEA. The goal is to solve the technical barriers—like server complexity and mod compatibility—that have historically held community multiplayer back, allowing creators to focus on imagination instead of infrastructure.

When Can We Play?

ReadyM is expected to become available for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered in Q2 2026, which means we could see it arrive sometime between April and June. For the millions of players who have spent nearly two decades exploring Cyrodiil alone, the chance to finally share that adventure with friends is a game-changer.
