A recent beta change for Genshin Impact Version 6.6 may have just revealed the next major combat mechanic: Stellar Reactions. According to datamining and insider reports, these upgraded elemental reactions are slated to debut in Snezhnaya, the game’s final major region, and could dramatically reshape the Cryo meta.

What Are Stellar Reactions?
Since Version 4.0, each new region has introduced a unique gameplay gimmick. Fontaine had Arkhe, Natlan had Nightsoul, and Nod‑Krai has Lunar Reactions. For Snezhnaya, leakers believe HoYoverse is preparing Stellar Reactions – three new variants of Cryo reactions:
- Stellar-Conduct (Cryo + Electro): An upgraded version of Superconduct, which currently is only useful for Physical damage teams. The new reaction is expected to be a powerful damage‑oriented reaction, moving Cryo/Electro teams away from niche physical support.
- Stellar-Swirl (Cryo + Anemo): An enhanced version of Cryo Swirl, potentially offering unique crowd control or debuff effects.
- Unknown third reaction (Cryo + Dendro): Speculated to be an overhaul of the Rimegrass effect from the Imaginarium Theater, possibly introducing a new transformative reaction.
The evidence comes from the first beta build of Version 6.6, where dataminers found a direct reference to “Stellar-Conduct” attached to Diona’s ability kit. HoYoverse quickly removed the reference in a later build, but not before screenshots circulated. As leaker Jelena noted, this removal all but confirms Stellar Reactions are the next combat feature.
Genshin Impact Version 6.6’s Artifact Set Hints
Version 6.6 introduces two new Artifact Sets. One is designed for Hexenzirkel support characters, but the other is particularly interesting: it boosts Superconduct. The set’s description mentions “receiving blessings from the Qosmos on the journey to Snezhnaya.” This mirrors how previous region gimmicks were teased through artifact sets before their full introduction (e.g., Nightsoul artifacts before Natlan).
The timing also aligns with rumors that Sandrone (one of the remaining Fatui Harbingers) will debut as an Electro character in Version 6.7, the rumored final patch of Nod‑Krai. If Sandrone is designed as a Stellar-Conduct support, it would parallel how Ineffa was introduced at the end of Natlan to enable Lunar‑Charged teams. This suggests Stellar Reactions could be tested in late Nod‑Krai before becoming the central mechanic of Snezhnaya.

What This Means for the Meta
Currently, Lunar Reactions dominate Genshin Impact‘s endgame, but they are restricted to 5‑Star Nod‑Krai characters. Stellar Reactions could be more accessible, potentially involving a mix of old and new characters. A Cryo/Electro reaction that actually deals damage would breathe new life into characters like Keqing, Fischl, and even future Cryo units.

It’s important to note that Version 6.6 will not feature Stellar Reactions in any playable form. The patch, launching May 20, 2026, focuses entirely on the Hexerei characters (Nicole, Lohen, Prune) and wraps up story threads from Nod‑Krai and Sumeru. The first glimpse of Stellar Reactions may come in Version 6.7, with a full rollout in Snezhnaya expected in late 2026 or early 2027.
For now, players can look forward to the new Artifact Set that boosts Superconduct – a small taste of the cold storms to come.
