GTA 6 Trailer 3 ‘Tease’ Has Gamers Putting On Their Tinfoil Hats

It’s another day, which means it’s another round of GTA VI speculation and fan theories regarding the highly anticipated Trailer 3. This time, fans believe the next trailer is dropping due to some suspicious activity by Rockstar Games.

We’ve had two trailers so far for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series; however, that second trailer dropped around 15 months ago in May 2025. So it’s certainly been a patient wait for fans hoping to see a GTA 6 trailer with pure gameplay footage from start to finish. At this point, the two trailers have been a mix of in-game cinematics and snippets of gameplay.

The launch of GTA VI is only four months away, so by all logic, that elusive Trailer 3 should be dropping in the coming weeks (we hope). What’s more, an industry insider has speculated this week that we’ll be seeing a lot more of GTA VI in August 2026.

Rockstar Games Seemingly Prepares for GTA 6 Reveal

There have been two suspicious activities by Rockstar Games this week, which have fans theorising that the GTA VI third trailer could be days away. The first piece of activity has been brought to our attention by X user Videotech.

Videotech mentioned that the official GTA 6 website was updated to change the fonts as well as other “miscellaneous changes.” They suggest that while this could be nothing, this is the first time the website has been updated in a month. According to reports, Rockstar made three backend updates to the site in a single day. The changes were primarily technical, focusing on performance improvements and preloading Rockstar’s custom web fonts, including the “GTA Art Deco” typeface. No new text or images were added, suggesting Rockstar may have only been preparing the site behind the scenes.

The second act of suspicious activity has been brought to our attention by Reddit user raptors201966, who reports that the official Rockstar Games Instagram account has suddenly started following new people this week.

Out of the two acts of activity, the second is probably the least consequential, because it could just be a simple case of whoever is running the Rockstar Games Instagram account deciding to randomly follow more accounts.

However, sometimes, when a website is updated, especially when it relates to an upcoming video game release, it can mean that the website is preparing for a change of content, which is why some are likely hoping that it’s in preparation for GTA VI Trailer 3.

The Insider Consensus

The recent activity aligns with comments from well-known industry insiders. NateTheHate recently stated that he expects to see “a fair bit of GTA VI next month” (August). This sentiment was echoed by Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, who has reportedly pointed to a similar timeframe. The timing of these hints is notable, as Take-Two Interactive’s next earnings call is scheduled for August 7. Rockstar has a history of dropping major news around these calls to generate positive momentum for investors.

That being said, at this point it’s all speculation, so we should take it all with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. As always, we’ll let you know when we learn more.

It’s also worth considering that if GTA VI follows the same pattern as Red Dead Redemption 2, we may end up getting two or three more trailers. The next GTA VI trailer could be the third, then we will likely have a customary launch trailer. After that, we may finally see the next iteration of GTA Online.

Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC port hasn’t been officially announced yet.
