Rockstar Games has dropped a surprise new look at Grand Theft Auto VI‘s Vice City, giving fans their best view yet of the game’s sprawling map.

The tease arrived as part of a wider announcement confirming that pre-orders for GTA 6 will officially begin on June 25, 2026. Alongside the pre-order news and the reveal of the game’s official cover art, Rockstar quietly slipped a short video onto the game’s website that offers a sweeping aerial tour of Vice City.
A New Look at Vice City
The video lasts around eight seconds. In it, the camera pans across the Vice City skyline before slowly zooming out, giving us a glimpse of the sheer scale of Rockstar’s reimagining of the iconic location. The footage reveals a sprawling cityscape with multiple distinct districts, towering skyscrapers, and dense apartment blocks stretching toward the horizon.
We also catch glimpses of several landmarks, including what appears to be a working harbour, a ferris wheel, and a towering crane. It’s a brief but tantalising preview that will undoubtedly be poured over by the dedicated GTA 6 Mapping Project community, which has spent the past two and a half years piecing together trailers, screenshots, and leaks to create what they believe will be the game’s final map.
For context, this project achieved remarkable accuracy with Grand Theft Auto V prior to its release. With GTA VI, the stakes—and the scale—are significantly higher.
A City That’s Bigger Than Ever
Vice City itself hasn’t been seen in the series since Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Vice City Stories. But the version we’re getting in GTA 6 is on an entirely different level. Early fan comparisons suggest Vice City feels significantly larger and more detailed than Los Santos in GTA V, with more water, a more expansive skyline, and a cleaner, more modern aesthetic.
The state of Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional version of Florida, is shaping up to be the biggest and most varied map the studio has ever created, with Vice City serving as its beating heart.
A Soundtrack That Hints at the Past
Alongside the new footage, fans also caught a brief audio snippet of the game’s theme. It sounds distinctly 80s-inspired, with guitar riffs and heavy drums driving the piece. While GTA VI is set in the present day, it seems Rockstar is leaning heavily into the neon-drenched nostalgia that made the original Vice City so iconic.

Pre-Orders Are Almost Here
The map tease comes as part of a busy week for Rockstar. Pre-orders for GTA VI will begin on June 25, 2026 on digital storefronts and at select retailers. The official cover art was also revealed in a 30-second video, showing protagonists Jason and Lucia alongside a sports car, a speedboat (complete with a flamingo), a motorbike, and a helicopter equipped with a minigun.
While pricing and edition details have yet to be confirmed, the pre-order announcement has put to rest any lingering fears of a third delay. Grand Theft Auto VI is locked in for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
