GTA 6 Adds Red Dead Redemption 2 Star To Cast As Fan-Favourite Returns

Rockstar Games has a long tradition of reusing talented voice actors across its projects, and GTA 6 is no exception. While the identities of protagonists Jason and Lucia remain a mystery, one actor has inadvertently confirmed his involvement. Jim Santangeli, known to Red Dead Redemption 2 fans as Simon Pearson – the Van der Linde gang’s affable camp cook – has revealed he has a role in the upcoming Vice City epic.

A Small but Cool Role

During a TikTok livestream earlier this week (reported by Comic Book), Santangeli disclosed that he will appear in GTA VI, describing the part as “small” but “cool.” He offered no further details – likely bound by a strict non‑disclosure agreement – but his confirmation marks the first time an actor has publicly acknowledged working on the game.

Santangeli’s previous Rockster credits include Simon Pearson in Red Dead Redemption 2 and a pedestrian voice in Grand Theft Auto IV. His new role could range from a brief cameo to a one‑off mission character. Given the scope of GTA VI, even a small part can be memorable.

Rockstar’s Recurring Talent Pool

Rockstar is famous for reusing its stable of actors. Ned Luke (Michael De Santa in GTA V) played a minor role in Red Dead Redemption 2. Benjamin Byron Davis (Dutch van der Linde) also appeared in L.A. Noire. It’s highly likely that other familiar voices from GTA V and RDR2 will pop up in Vice City, either in major capacities or as background pedestrians.

Santangeli’s confirmation is therefore not surprising, but it is exciting. It serves as a reminder that even as Rockstar builds a new world with new protagonists, the family of voice talent carries through.

What This Means for Fans

With the third trailer expected to drop any day (summer marketing has begun), more casting news may surface soon. However, Rockstar typically keeps its voice actors under wraps until launch. For now, fans can add Santangeli to the list of confirmed talent – a small but heartening breadcrumb on the long road to November 19.

Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version is expected later.
