Witcher “Project Sirius” Still Alive
In the world of video game development, projects can sometimes disappear from the public eye, leading fans to assume the worst. This was the case for CD Projekt Red’s mysterious “Project Sirius,” a multiplayer title set in the world of The Witcher. Now, a new job listing has officially confirmed the game is still in development and has not been cancelled.

The revelation comes from a posting on CD Projekt’s careers page for a Senior Gameplay Engineer. The listing explicitly states the role is for someone to “join our team to work on Project Sirius – an original video game combining beloved aspects of The Witcher world with immersive multiplayer gameplay.”
This confirmation is significant because of Project Sirius’s notoriously difficult development history. Initially developed by Boston-based studio The Molasses Flood, the project was rebooted from scratch in early 2023. CD Projekt’s leadership stated they needed to reassess the project to ensure it aligned with their vision, a process that led to significant cost-cutting and layoffs.
Later, The Molasses Flood was fully absorbed into CD Projekt Red, and several key staff members departed. These events led many industry watchers and fans to believe that Project Sirius had been quietly shelved, joining the ranks of other cancelled game concepts.
The new job listing dispels those rumours entirely. It confirms that CD Projekt Red is directly steering the project forward and is actively building a team to bring its vision to life. The description also offers the clearest picture of the game’s premise yet, highlighting a blend of single-player and multiplayer elements within the rich lore of The Witcher.
Project Sirius is one of five titles known to be in the works at CD Projekt Red. The others include the next mainline Witcher game (often called The Witcher 4), a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, a full remake of the original Witcher game, and a completely new IP dubbed “Project Hadar.”
