Witcher 3 Cross-Platform Mod
Fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will have to wait a bit longer for a feature that promises to revolutionize the game on consoles. CD Projekt Red has officially announced that the planned cross-platform mod support for the acclaimed RPG has been delayed until 2026.

The developer shared the news via social media, stating, “We originally planned to introduce cross-platform mod support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this year, but the rollout is now shifting to 2026.” While disappointing for many, the delay suggests CD Projekt Red is prioritizing stability and proper implementation for what will be a significant technical achievement.
This upcoming feature is designed to bring a curated modding experience to console players, similar to systems seen in modern Bethesda games. Players on PlayStation and Xbox will gain access to a selection of compatible mods directly through the game, opening up new ways to experience Geralt’s adventure through community-created content that was previously exclusive to PC.
The delay means console players will need to be patient before they can experiment with visual enhancements, gameplay tweaks, and new quests that have kept the PC version fresh for years. Notably, the mod support will not extend to the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 versions of the game.
While the wait is unfortunate, it underscores CD Projekt Red’s commitment to supporting its titles long-term. This move also sets an interesting precedent for the studio’s future games, including the upcoming Witcher 4, where similar mod support could be integrated from the outset. The feature’s eventual implementation in The Witcher 3 could also pave the way for similar support in Cyberpunk 2077, which boasts a vibrant modding community.

For now, fans can continue to enjoy the base game while looking forward to a more customizable experience in 2026.
Wow, a 2026 rollout for console modding? Sounds like CDPR finally realized they need a better excuse than tired for not doing it sooner! 😉 Still, cant wait to see Witcher 4 come out fully modded from the start – maybe I can finally make Geralt play fetch. As for Switch getting left out… well, Geralt probably prefers the portability of PC or Xbox anyway, wouldnt want him stuck waiting for Switch 2. Patience, console kids, patience! No, I’m not a Human
