The Witcher 3 DLC To Introduce a Brand New Region, Oh My
The rumors of a major new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are gaining substantial new detail. Following last week’s report from a financial analyst, a new investigation by IGN Poland suggests the potential DLC could venture into a completely uncharted part of the Continent: the mysterious, desert-rich realm of Zerrikania.

According to IGN Poland, their sources have known about early work on a new expansion “for a few years.” The site states that the Witcher development team was notably “fascinated by a completely different direction than the frozen north” of Toussaint and Skellige, showing keen interest in exploring Zerrikania as a setting.
In the lore of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books and the games, Zerrikania is a vast, remote land lying far to the east of the Northern Kingdoms and the Nilfgaardian Empire. It is described as a place of harsh deserts, treacherous mountain ranges, and expansive wastelands, populated by unique cultures and creatures barely referenced in the main games. A DLC set here would offer a radical change in scenery, trading European-inspired forests and vineyards for arid, sun-scorched landscapes.
This rumor aligns with the previous prediction that a new Witcher 3 expansion would act as a narrative bridge to the upcoming The Witcher 4 (Polaris), which is expected to launch in late 2027. Introducing players to a new major region on the Continent’s map could effectively set the stage for the sequel’s own explorations.

IGN Poland cautiously notes that internal plans may have shifted since they first received the information. However, the convergence of this report with the earlier financial analysis lends significant weight to the core idea: CD Projekt Red appears to be actively developing a substantial new chapter for Geralt’s legendary RPG, one that could finally unlock a part of the world fans have only ever heard about in passing tales.
