NVIDIA has set a firm date for the next major evolution of its AI-powered gaming technology. The company confirmed that Dynamic Multi Frame Generation (MFG), alongside a powerful new MFG 6x mode, will be released to the public in April 2026. This update promises to make frame generation smarter and more efficient by dynamically adapting to both game performance and a user’s specific display.

Announced at CES 2026, this technology represents a significant shift from the current static approach, aiming to deliver a smoother, more responsive experience tailored to each player’s setup.
Smarter Than Static: How Dynamic MFG Works
Current Multi Frame Generation uses a fixed multiplier (like 2x or 3x) to insert AI-generated frames. The new Dynamic Multi Frame Generation is driver-controlled and intelligently adapts in real-time. Its primary goal is to hit a user’s target refresh rate—like 144 Hz or 240 Hz—as efficiently as possible, rather than always generating the maximum number of frames.
For example, in a graphically intense scene where the base frame rate drops, the driver might activate the new 6x multiplier to recover smoothness. Then, in a lighter scene, it could seamlessly scale down to a 3x or 2x multiplier. According to press demos, this switching happens quickly and without noticeable artifacts, ensuring the system only works as hard as it needs to.
A Major Boost: The New MFG 6x Mode
The April update will also unlock the MFG 6x mode for GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards. This represents a substantial leap in potential frame generation, capable of creating up to five AI frames for every single rendered frame from the game. This technology is designed to be a game-changer for achieving ultra-high frame rates on high-refresh-rate monitors, especially in demanding titles.

The Competitive AI Upscaling Landscape
NVIDIA’s announcement continues to solidify its lead in the AI upscaling and frame generation arena. While Intel has recently introduced a similar multi-frame technology for its new Panther Lake processors, and AMD offers single-frame generation through FSR, NVIDIA’s early-2026 rollout of this adaptive system shows its commitment to rapid software innovation.
For gamers, the April 2026 release means that the powerful RTX 50 series GPUs will soon gain even more value through a major software update, enhancing smoothness and performance across supported games without requiring new hardware.
