NVIDIA Confirms DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation Arrives March 31

Mark Your Calendars: DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Frame Generation Lands March 31

NVIDIA has officially narrowed the launch window for its highly anticipated DLSS 4.5 update. The company confirmed during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2026 that DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation will be available starting March 31. This rollout aligns with NVIDIA’s previous “spring” guidance and moves the feature forward from earlier April projections.

The update introduces two significant enhancements to the upscaling technology: Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and a new 6X Multi Frame Generation mode, both of which are exclusive to the GeForce RTX 50 Series.

Smarter Frame Generation

Unlike the current fixed-multiplier approach, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation acts as an “automatic transmission” for your GPU. The system continuously monitors scene complexity and the target display refresh rate, adjusting the number of AI-generated frames in real-time.

For example, in graphically intense scenes, the system can increase the frame generation multiplier to maintain smooth gameplay at 240Hz. During lighter scenes, it automatically scales back to avoid generating unnecessary frames, striking what NVIDIA describes as an optimal balance between frame rate, image quality, and latency.

6X Mode Delivers Up to 35% Performance Boost

Alongside the dynamic adjustment, the update introduces a 6X Multi Frame Generation mode. This represents a jump from the current maximum of 4X, meaning for every traditionally rendered frame, DLSS can now generate up to five additional AI-crafted frames.

When paired with NVIDIA Reflex to minimize input lag, the 6X mode is designed to push 4K frame rates significantly higher in demanding path-traced titles. Early testing suggests the upgrade from 4X to 6X can yield up to a 35% performance increase in such scenarios.

Enhanced Image Quality and Game Support

The DLSS 4.5 package also includes an updated frame generation model that improves visual fidelity. By incorporating more engine data, NVIDIA states that static user interface elements will appear sharper and clearer during generated frames—a known challenge for the technology.

The rollout coincides with a wave of new game integrations. More than 20 titles are adding native DLSS 4.5 and path tracing support. Highlights include:

  • 007 First Light (May 28) – Path tracing + DLSS 4.5
  • CONTROL Resonant (2026) – Path tracing + DLSS 4.5
  • Tides of Annihilation (TBA) – Path tracing + DLSS 4.5
  • Samson (April 8) – DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution + ray tracing

How to Get It

The new features will be available through an opt-in NVIDIA App beta, accessible via Settings > About in the application. Users will need the GeForce Game Ready driver 595.79 WHQL or newer to enable the functionality. A full public release is planned for a later date.

While the new features are exclusive to RTX 50 Series hardware, NVIDIA notes that DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution remains available to all GeForce RTX users through the NVIDIA App, allowing broader access to the improved image quality.
