InZOI Baby Guide: How to Start a Family in the New Life Simulator

InZOI, the highly anticipated life simulator from Krafton, has entered Early Access with its deep family gameplay mechanics. One of the most charming features is the ability to have and raise babies, bringing a new level of realism to the virtual world. However, starting a family isn’t as simple as clicking a button – there are specific requirements and steps you’ll need to follow. This guide will walk you through everything from finding the right partner to caring for your growing toddler.

How to Have a Baby in InZOI

Starting a family in InZOI requires careful planning. First, you’ll need two Zois of opposite genders who are married to each other – same-sex couples and single parents can’t conceive naturally in the game. The couple must have a strong romantic relationship, built up through consistent positive interactions until the “Propose” option becomes available.

Your household also needs to have fewer than 8 Zois, as the game prevents overpopulation. A handy shortcut is creating a pre-married couple in the Creative Studio to skip the dating phase. Once married, use the “Suggest Having a Baby” interaction when both Zois are in a good mood. If successful, they’ll try for a baby, after which you should take a Pregnancy Test to confirm.

Pregnancy & Giving Birth

Pregnancy in InZOI lasts for three in-game days, during which you’ll see visible changes to your female Zoi’s body. This is the perfect time to prepare by building a nursery with a crib and stocking up on baby supplies like bottles and toys.

When it’s time to deliver, a red exclamation mark will appear above your pregnant Zoi’s head. Selecting the “Give Birth” option triggers a hospital sequence (with a loading screen), after which your newborn will appear in a crib at home. You’ll get to choose their name and learn their gender at this point. Pro tip: Adjust your game’s day length settings if you want more time with your newborn before they age up.

Newborn Care Basics

Newborns in InZOI have limited interactions compared to older life stages. They remain confined to their cribs, but you can still bond with them through talking and showing affection. These early interactions are crucial as they lay the foundation for your Zoi’s social development.

The newborn stage only lasts one in-game day, making it the shortest life phase in InZOI. While you can’t physically hold or carry your baby, observing them and interacting verbally helps build that important parent-child connection before they grow into toddlers.

Raising Toddlers (And Why It Matters)

The toddler phase introduces significantly more gameplay options. You’ll need to meet all their basic needs – feeding, bathing, and putting them to sleep. More importantly, this is when you can start teaching fundamental skills like walking and talking.

Toddlers develop across four key areas: Emotional (how they react to others), Language (early speech development), Cognitive (problem-solving abilities), and Physical (movement and coordination). Investing time in these areas pays off later, as high-skilled toddlers transition into more capable children with better life prospects.

What Happens Next?

After two in-game days as toddlers, your Zois will automatically age into children. This transition unlocks new features including customizable traits, values systems, and more complex social interactions.

The skills they developed as toddlers will influence their capabilities as children, demonstrating how InZOI’s life stages connect to create a cohesive growth system. This makes the effort you put into early parenting truly meaningful for your Zoi’s future.

Is InZOI’s Parenting Worth It?

While InZOI’s parenting system may not be as deep as some dedicated life sims, it offers a charming and surprisingly realistic portrayal of family growth. The current limitations (no adoption or same-sex reproduction) may disappoint some players, but the toddler skill system adds meaningful depth.

The relatively quick progression from newborn to child keeps the experience engaging without becoming tedious. As the game develops further through Early Access, we may see even more parenting features added to enhance this already promising family simulation aspect.
