The update emerged from court proceedings between Sony and Tencent, where PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash disclosed significant details about the film’s development status. “We already have a working script and are actively searching for a director, with the goal of shooting the picture in 2026 and releasing it in 2027,” Qizilbash stated in the legal filing.
This announcement marks a significant turnaround for the Horizon adaptation, which originally began development as a Netflix television series in 2022 before that project was abandoned following allegations against the intended showrunner.
