GTA 6 Come to PlayStation 4?
As the 2026 release window for Grand Theft Auto VI draws closer, one major question continues to split the community: will the game ever come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One? Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the title only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, leaving last-gen console owners wondering if they’ll be left behind.

The possibility of a last-gen port is a complex issue. On one hand, the technical gap is significant. Reports suggest GTA VI will be a demanding experience, potentially running at 30fps on current consoles to maintain its visual fidelity and complex world. Paring down such an ambitious game for hardware that launched in 2013 would be a monumental challenge. As one fan joked online about a potential PS4 version, “It would be -99999999 fps.”
However, there is a compelling business argument. The PlayStation 4’s player base remained larger than the PS5’s until 2025, meaning a huge audience still uses older hardware. If the less powerful Xbox Series S can run the game, it sparks debate about what’s technically feasible. Yet, Rockstar must weigh this potential market against the development resources required, which could be better spent on a PC port or post-launch online content.
The community is deeply divided. Some argue it’s time to move on, with comments like, “At this point, just get a gaming PC.” Others express concern that focusing on cutting-edge graphics might come at the expense of gameplay. Rockstar’s pattern suggests a PC port is the next priority, typically arriving 12-18 months after the console launch. A last-gen version, if it ever happens, would likely follow much later, if at all.
