A recent GTA 6 leak that had thousands of fans convinced has been revealed as an elaborate hoax. The individual behind the viral clip has come clean, admitting they spent months meticulously crafting the footage to see if they could fool the community.

The Leak That Looked Real
Earlier this month, a brief clip surfaced on Instagram showing a bridge in what appeared to be GTA VI‘s Vice City, with cars casually driving across it. The footage was unremarkable—a mundane slice of open-world life—which paradoxically made it believable. It wasn’t explosions or high-octane action; just a bridge, a skyline, and traffic.
The uploader claimed the clip had been sent to them by a developer years ago, just weeks before the infamous 2022 hack that leaked 90 videos of in-development footage. They said they’d never shared it because it “had no substance”.
The Confession
Now, the creator has posted on Reddit, explaining their true motivations. “I spent months rebuilding a specific fragment of Miami, recreating the UI and spending way too many hours on the post-processing to make it look authentic,” they wrote. “I even scrapped my first few versions because they just didn’t feel right.”
They provided a link to a YouTube video breaking down the entire process, revealing the tools and techniques used to create the illusion. Their goal, they said, was simply to “give the community something to talk about” during an extended information drought.
Why It Worked
The fake worked because it targeted the community’s specific hunger. After years of waiting, multiple delays—from an initial Fall 2025 window to May 2026, and finally to the current November 19, 2026 date—fans are desperate for any crumb of information. A mundane, unspectacular clip felt more authentic than something flashy. It didn’t try too hard.

What’s Real
For those seeking genuine news, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed that marketing for GTA VI will begin this summer, with the November release date locked in. Trailer 3, pre-orders, and official details are expected in the coming months.
Until then, approach every leak with skepticism. Some are too good to be true—because they are.
