Now, a new clue from Sony has the community bracing for the possibility of yet another delay, potentially into 2027.
The concern stems from Sony’s recently launched “PlayStation Wrap-Up 2025.” This feature allows PS4 and PS5 users to review their personal gaming stats for the year. While that data is fun, it was a forward-looking section that caught everyone’s attention.
A part of the Wrap-Up is dedicated to showcasing major games expected to launch on PlayStation 5 in 2026. The list includes heavy hitters like Marvel’s Wolverine, Resident Evil Requiem, 007: First Light, and Nioh 3. Conspicuously absent from this promotional graphic is Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI.
Given that GTA 6 is arguably the most anticipated game of the decade and is officially slated for a late 2026 release on PS5, its omission is puzzling. Fans were quick to notice, and social media lit up with theories and fears.
Many see the omission as a silent confirmation from Sony that they no longer expect the game in 2026. “It’s clear GTA VI is going to 2027,” read one typical comment. The anxiety is understandable; after over a decade since GTA V and multiple delays, any hint of another setback is magnified.
However, not all interpretations are doom-laden. Some fans offer a more pragmatic take.
