Ghost of Yōtei Devs Eye Sequel Project, Free DLC Coming First
The developers behind the acclaimed Ghost of Yōtei are preparing to expand the game with a significant free update this year, but their future beyond that is a topic of passionate internal discussion. While a free multiplayer DLC for the hit sequel is locked in for 2026, Sucker Punch Productions now faces a classic developer’s dilemma: deciding which beloved franchise to revive next.

The studio has officially confirmed that a free Legends-style multiplayer DLC for Ghost of Yōtei is in development for a 2026 release on PlayStation 5. This update will follow the model of the popular co-op mode added to the original Ghost of Tsushima, offering players new ways to experience the game’s world together.
Once that project is complete, the studio’s direction becomes less certain. In recent interviews, key figures have expressed a desire to revisit the studio’s storied past, but they are divided on which chapter to reopen.
Nate Fox, the game’s co-creative director, acknowledged the strong fan demand for a new inFAMOUS title. “I would love to work on more Infamous,” Fox stated, while also noting the studio’s singular focus on finishing Ghost of Yōtei‘s ongoing support.
The mention of a Sly Cooper revival originates from a 2025 interview with then-studio co-founder Brian Fleming. He emphasized the studio’s “one project at a time” philosophy, noting that choosing between continuing Ghost, returning to Sly, or another project is a major decision limited by their focused development style.
However, Fleming’s influence on that decision is now historical. As of December 2025, he has officially departed Sucker Punch. The studio’s new leadership, Jason Connell and Adrian Bentley, will ultimately steer the choice for the next major project.

The debate highlights Sucker Punch’s rich legacy. A new Sly Cooper would cater to a longstanding audience yearning for the series’ return, while a third inFAMOUS game holds significant modern commercial potential. For now, players can look forward to the confirmed free DLC later this year, as the studio carefully considers which ghost from its past to summon next.
