Ghost of Yotei DLC Plans
While Ghost of Yotei players might be eagerly anticipating downloadable content for the acclaimed sequel, developer Sucker Punch Productions is taking a deliberate approach to any potential expansions. In a recent interview, the game’s directors revealed they plan to carefully consider community feedback before moving forward with DLC plans.

The developers explained that they’re currently in a “listening phase” following the game’s successful launch. Co-director Jason Connell emphasized the importance of understanding what resonates with players before committing to additional content. “We are at the spot in the project where we just get to put it out there and see what’s resonating with people and what people love and what people feel like they wish they maybe knew more about Atsu,” Connell told Game Informer.
This community-focused approach mirrors the studio’s process with the original Ghost of Tsushima, which eventually received the well-received Iki Island expansion. Connell described this period as “the most important part of the project” for making decisions about future content, noting that developer intentions don’t always align with player interests.
Lead writer Ian Ryan echoed this sentiment, highlighting the value of player perspectives. “You get this rare opportunity to actually listen to millions of people about what resonated within a story versus maybe what didn’t or what are the holes,” Ryan explained. The developers specifically mentioned they’re paying attention to which character relationships and story elements players want explored further.
While confirming their affection for protagonist Atsu and openness to expanding her story, the developers made clear that any DLC would need to align with Sucker Punch’s creative standards and studio priorities. This measured approach suggests that while additional content is likely in Ghost of Yotei’s future, players may need to exercise patience as the developers analyze feedback and plan their next moves.
