Genshin Impact Durin as Playable Pyro Character
Genshin Impact players have reason to celebrate as HoYoverse has officially revealed Durin, one of the game’s most anticipated characters, as a playable 5-Star Pyro Sword user coming in Version 6.2. The announcement marks the culmination of a long-running storyline that began years ago and introduces significant new gameplay mechanics to the popular RPG.
Durin’s journey to becoming a playable character has been years in the making. Players first encountered his skeletal remains on Dragonspine back in Version 1.2, with subsequent story developments in Versions 4.8 and 5.6 gradually building toward his eventual rebirth. This deep lore integration makes Durin one of the most narratively significant characters added to the game in recent updates.
From a gameplay perspective, Durin will function as a Pyro Support character with a unique shape-shifting mechanic that allows him to adapt to different team compositions. According to early information, he can switch between forms that either make him an on-field driver for Vaporize and Melt reactions or an off-field damage dealer for Burning, Overload, Pyro Swirl, and Pyro Crystalize teams.
