Three New Witcher Games in Six Years
CD Projekt Red, the studio behind the legendary The Witcher series, has confirmed it is sticking to one of the most ambitious schedules in modern gaming. During a recent earnings call, the company reaffirmed its plan to release the next three games within a span of just six years.

This bold strategy was first announced in 2022, shortly after the new saga was revealed. The plan involves developing and launching a complete new trilogy, starting with the game codenamed “Project Polaris” (commonly known as The 4), followed by two sequels, all by the end of this tight window.
CD Projekt Red’s co-CEO, Michał Nowakowski, directly addressed the timeline, stating, “Our plan still is to launch the whole trilogy within a six-year period.” He acknowledged that this would require “a shorter development time” between each subsequent game in the series.
The key to achieving this goal lies in the studio’s refined development process. By building the first game, The 4, on Unreal Engine 5, the team can establish a powerful foundation of technology, assets, and workflows. This will allow them to create the sequels much more efficiently by reusing and building upon this established core, rather than starting from scratch each time.
This accelerated timeline means fans could potentially see the entire new saga unfold by the early 2030s. Based on current development progress, industry analysts suggest The 4 could target a 2027-2028 release, setting the stage for the following two games to arrive in quick succession.
