Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Continues PS5 Platinum Trophy
For PlayStation trophy hunters, the launch of a new Call of Duty game has become a recurring disappointment. Despite its full-price release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has launched on PlayStation 5 without a Platinum Trophy, continuing a trend that began with Modern Warfare III in 2023.

The absence of the coveted Platinum Trophy, which is awarded for collecting all other trophies in a game, has become a point of frustration for the PS5 Call of Duty community. This issue is believed to stem from the game’s integration into the ‘Call of Duty HQ’ launcher. Because these new titles are technically categorized as downloadable content (DLC) for this central hub on PlayStation 5, they are not granted a standalone Platinum Trophy, unlike their PlayStation 4 counterparts.
The news, confirmed by players who pre-ordered and accessed the game early, was met with familiar dismay on forums and social media. One Reddit user announced the letdown, calling it “definitely a disappointment for completionists.” Another user pointed out a potential future fix, noting, “It will have a Platinum in three to four years when it splits off from the Call of Duty launcher, like MW3 just did.”
This has led some dedicated trophy collectors to a specific workaround. As one player declared, “Guess we’re doing the PS4 version again.” By purchasing and playing the last-generation version on their PS5, players can still earn a Platinum Trophy, though it means forgoing the enhanced features of the native PS5 release.

The omission is particularly notable given Call of Duty‘s history of offering challenging and rewarding trophy lists. For many players, the grueling journey to 100% completion and that final Platinum has been a significant part of the franchise’s appeal, making its continued absence a notable exclusion for the platform’s most dedicated fans.
