Battlefield 6 Season 2
Following a delayed start, Battlefield 6 Season 2 is set to arrive later this month with a substantial package of gameplay refinements and new content aimed at addressing player feedback. EA and Battlefield Studios have outlined a series of key improvements targeting progression pacing, soldier movement, and combat feel, alongside the debut of a new map, “Contaminated.”

The upcoming season introduces the first of its new maps, “Contaminated,” set in a German airbase and hinting at a new limited-time mode involving tactical combat against the robotic Pax Armata forces. A second, “high-intensity” map and a dark, underground limited-time mode are promised for later in the season.
A primary focus of the update is improving the game’s progression systems, which players have criticized as too slow. Season 2 retunes the Battle Pass and Career XP earn rates, particularly for REDSEC and Gauntlet modes, and adds boosters to early Career ranks. Challenge requirements have also been broadened—assists now count toward objectives, and frustrating specific-mode or sidearm-kill challenges have been removed entirely.
Significant work has been dedicated to enhancing soldier movement. The developers state that acceleration, vaulting, and ladder transitions have been smoothed to feel more “predictable and readable” during firefights, fixing previous visual inconsistencies and unexpected behaviors that could disrupt combat flow.
Combat and audio receive meaningful polish as well. Automatic weapons have undergone a broad tuning pass to better define their roles, and recoil compensation has been improved. Audio effects have been refined for clearer directional cues, more reliable playback in chaotic situations, and better handling of overlapping sounds like footsteps and gunfire.
Looking beyond the Season 2 launch, EA confirmed that work continues on other community-requested features, including netcode, hit registration, the ping system, and visibility. The team is also utilizing “Battlefield Labs” to have players test major map reworks, like the upcoming changes to Golmud Railway, before they go live.
