The information comes from Dealabs, which claims to have verified both the existence of a Switch 2 version and its early December release date. This follows earlier sightings of physical Switch 2 editions listed by French retailers, adding credibility to the reports. According to the leak, Ubisoft is expected to officially announce the port and open pre-orders sometime before November 7.

The Switch 2 version will apparently utilize Nintendo’s Game-Key Card system for physical copies. This approach, which has drawn mixed reactions from players, involves a physical card containing a download code rather than a playable game cartridge. While Nintendo has defended the system as making third-party development easier, some collectors have expressed disappointment about the lack of actual game media in physical editions.

Despite some controversy before its initial release, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has proven to be a commercial success for Ubisoft. The game reached five million players within four months of launch and achieved the franchise’s second-biggest launch day numbers, attracting one million players in its first 24 hours.

A Switch 2 release could significantly expand the game’s audience, bringing the dual protagonist story of Naoe and Yasuke to Nintendo’s player base. The December timing would position the game perfectly for the holiday shopping season, potentially introducing the Assassin’s Creed franchise to new players who primarily game on Nintendo platforms.
