Assassins Creed Game Brings Multi-Era Crossover to Life
For fans of the Assassins Creed franchise, September is shaping up to be an exciting month. While the Shadows DLC, “Claws of Awaji,” prepares to launch, a different kind of adventure is capturing the community’s imagination: Assassins Creed: Animus, a competitive tabletop game that fulfills the long-held dream of a true multi-era crossover.
Developed by Mantic Games in partnership with Ubisoft, Assassins Creed: Animus translates the core fantasy of the video games into a physical format. Players can explore the past, strike down targets, and race to leave their mark on history, either solo or with up to three friends. The game’s most compelling feature is the ability to select an assassin from any era, meaning you could see Black Flag‘s Edward Kenway team up—or compete—with Shadows‘ Yasuke on the same tabletop.
This concept delivers a crossover appeal that has long been requested from the video games but has never been fully realized. The tabletop medium allows for this flexible, fan-service-driven approach without the technical constraints of a digital title.
The project recently achieved a significant milestone, soaring past its £35,000 Kickstarter goal to raise over £200,000. This overwhelming support ensures the game will officially go into production. However, the campaign is set to end imminently, at 3 PM BST on September 10, creating a narrow window for fans to secure exclusive content.
Backing the Kickstarter is the only way to obtain certain limited-edition items. The campaign offers Kickstarter-exclusive character miniatures, making it a must for collectors and die-hard fans. Two editions are available: the basic version for £65 and the ‘Master Assassin’ edition for £100. The premium edition includes four additional eras—Unity, Odyssey, Origins, and Syndicate—significantly expanding the roster of playable assassins and settings.
