A new leak is giving us an exciting, albeit unofficial, look at the capabilities of AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 7 9850X3D gaming processor. An image posted on a Chinese social platform and shared by known leaker HXL appears to show the highly anticipated CPU running on a test system with memory operating at a staggering DDR5-9800 MT/s. This speed pushes close to the 10,000 MT/s mark, a territory typically dominated by Intel platforms.
The screenshot shows the system, with its date humorously set to the year 2037, utilizing an ASUS B850 chipset motherboard. While the date is clearly a placeholder, the memory speed and CPU information offer a tangible clue about the performance tuning and compatibility work happening behind the scenes at AMD and its partners.
Why This Memory Speed is Significant
Officially, AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series processors, including the X3D models, support DDR5 memory up to 5600 MT/s under standard JEDEC specifications. In practice, the community has found the performance “sweet spot” to be around 6000-6400 MT/s for optimal stability and performance, especially for the cache-sensitive X3D chips.
The sight of a Ryzen CPU running stable at 9800 MT/s is therefore noteworthy.
