GTA 6 Trailer 3 Hysteria Intensifies as Gamers Spot Telling Clue

Grand Theft Auto VI‘s third trailer is still yet to arrive, but eagle-eyed fans believe it’ll drop today, 23 July, after spotting a telling clue.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick previously revealed that Rockstar Games would kick off the game’s final marketing push in summer, and July is definitely the height of summer. As such, fans have been going through the motions on a near-daily basis wondering if each day is the day that GTA 6‘s next trailer will arrive, only to be met with a GTA Online or Red Dead Online update from Rockstar’s socials.

That may be about to change though, as Rockstar Games has not posted to Bilibili today.

The Bilibili Theory

Bilibili is China’s most popular social media platform, and given the time difference, Rockstar Games’ social posts appear there quite a number of hours before they land on Twitter/X for the rest of the world. Due to this, we usually know when a GTA Online or Red Dead Online post is coming.

On occasion, however, Rockstar Games skips posting to Bilibili — and this is typically because whatever post they have planned needs issuing at a precise time worldwide. It’s the type of behaviour we saw ahead of GTA 6‘s pre-orders going live, and now that Bilibili is missing a post today, gamers are theorising that it may mean that Trailer 3 is on the way in a few hours time.

“Trailer three today?” asked Reddit user Rsodyyy. “No post on bilibili, five weeks since the cover reveal, and four weeks to the day of pre-orders opening.”

The GTA 6 Community Reacts

Of course, this is just a theory. An absent Bilibili post hasn’t resulted in major news on every occasion, so do take this all with a pinch of salt. That being said, Rockstar Games has a penchant for Tuesdays and Thursdays when it comes to announcements, for whatever reason, and today is the latter.

“Or next week which is a week before earnings,” -PANORAMIX- replied.

“IT HAS TO LETS F**KING GO BOYS,” added Electronic-Joke-4785.

“It would be insane and very surprising if they go the whole of July without absolutely nothing,” the OP said.

The hysteria has even prompted some fans to point out that GTA 6‘s third trailer hasn’t arrived yet — despite the game being less than four months from launch. Others have noted that Rockstar could be planning to release a trailer just before the next Take-Two earnings call.

The August 7 Earnings Call Theory

Industry watchers have predicted a late July to mid-August release for Trailer 3. The next Take-Two Interactive earnings call is set for August 7 — an unusual Friday date with an 8 AM EST timing. Fans have noted that Rockstar has historically dropped trailers around two weeks before investors convened.

Reports suggest that the next trailer may be released between late July and mid-August 2026 on the studio’s social handles. The expected timeline matches Take-Two Interactive’s earnings call on August 7. If Trailer 3 indeed surfaces in July or early August, it might be accompanied by fresh details about the game’s map, characters, or mission structure.

Trailer 3 Would Put GTA VI Back on Track

It’s not been a totally smooth ride for GTA 6 as of late. Rockstar Games caused a stir when it revealed that GTA VI would not be sold as a true physical copy, instead being offered either digitally or as a code in a box. In fact, several US retailers boycotted sales of the game, revealing that they wouldn’t stock the boxes as they don’t want to provide customers with what clearly isn’t a true physical copy.

GTA VI‘s pricing seemed to go down well, with the base version costing £69.99 / $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition setting you back £89.99 / $99.99. That latter version eventually drew criticism, though, for locking story content, missions, and shops behind a paywall rather than the usual meaningless cosmetics.

Rockstar Games and PlayStation have also partnered to market GTA 6 as playing “best on PS5” with PlayStation even changing its logo on socials to one that reflected GTA VI‘s branding. That was soon set back to normal though after PlayStation began to receive heavy backlash for its recently announced decision to stop producing physical games from January 2028.

Perhaps with the launch of Trailer 3, Rockstar Games will be able to put this turbulent period behind it as the true countdown to launch day begins.

When Will Trailer 3 Actually Arrive?

To keep track of past releases, it might be possible that Rockstar drops Trailer 3 between the end of July and the first week of August. The first trailer for GTA VI dropped in December 2023, with the second arriving 17 months later in May 2025. It’s now been around 14 months since Trailer 2.

Before the launch of 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2 — Rockstar’s last major release — it had three pre-launch trailers, ending with a fourth launch trailer. After that third trailer arrived, it was around five months before its launch.

With the release of GTA VI now just four months away, Trailer 3 could drop any day. Many fans believe it could arrive in late July or early August, potentially around Take-Two Interactive’s next earnings call on August 7.

If Trailer 3 indeed arrives in the coming days or weeks, it might be accompanied by fresh details about the game’s map, characters, or mission structure. While no official date is confirmed, the July to August timeframe remains plausible based on existing clues and Rockstar’s historical patterns.

Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The inevitable PC port hasn’t been officially revealed yet.
