From 2022 to 2026: A Map Takes Shape
Reddit user EliteFireBox shared a side‑by‑side comparison of the GTA 6 Community Mapping Project, showing the original September 2022 version next to the April 2026 revision. The difference is striking. The early map was a rough outline, lacking detail and feeling sparse. The updated version is far more fleshed out, featuring cities (including the confirmed Vice City), highways, towns, countryside, mountains, and waterways.
While the map is still a fan creation—built from trailer analysis and leaked data—it offers the clearest indication yet of what Rockstar’s final map might look like.
How Big Is It?
According to the project’s authors, GTA VI currently has about twice the playable land of GTA V. With new information, that could expand to 2.5 times the size of Los Santos and Blaine County combined.
For perspective, GTA V‘s map was already enormous, taking several minutes to traverse by air. A world two and a half times larger means players could spend hours just driving from one end to the other. Some fans expressed concern that planes might feel underutilized if distances aren’t substantial enough, but the project’s creators believe that the “amount of detail and variety put into the map will make the map feel larger than it actually is,” similar to how GTA IV‘s Liberty City felt dense and lived‑in.
