Intel’s Panther Lake CPU for Gaming Laptops Leak
The next generation of Intel processors for powerful gaming laptops is starting to take shape. A recent leak on the performance-testing platform Geekbench has revealed one of the flagship chips from the upcoming “Panther Lake” series, the Core Ultra 9 386H.
The leak confirms several key details about this highly anticipated CPU. It is a 16-core processor, configured with a mix of performance cores (P-cores) and efficiency cores (E-cores) designed to handle intensive tasks and background operations intelligently. The listing showed the chip reaching a boost clock speed of 4.72 GHz.
Notably, this particular CPU is engineered specifically for gaming laptops. Unlike some other models in the series that feature powerful integrated graphics, the Core Ultra 9 386H is built to be paired with a dedicated graphics card from NVIDIA or AMD. This strategic focus allows Intel to optimize the chip purely for raw processing power to drive the best possible gaming performance.
The Geekbench results provide an early look at how it stacks up against its predecessor. The Core Ultra 9 386H shows a single-core performance increase of approximately 9% and a multi-core increase of about 4% compared to the current Arrow Lake-H flagship. While this is a solid generational improvement, it’s important to note that this is an early engineering sample, and final retail performance could be higher.
The processor was spotted in an Acer Predator laptop, a well-known line of gaming machines, hinting at the kind of devices we can expect to feature this powerful new silicon.
