GTA 6 Faces Third Delay Risk
The recent delay of Grand Theft Auto VI to November 2026 may not be the final setback for the highly anticipated game. A new report from within Rockstar Games suggests that internal turmoil and plummeting employee morale could jeopardize the new release date.

This concern follows Rockstar’s official announcement of a second delay, pushing the game back by six months. While the studio cited a need for “additional polish,” a deeper issue appears to be affecting development.
The situation intensified last week when Rockstar fired 34 employees. The company’s official statement claimed the dismissals were for “distributing and discussing confidential information.” However, this has been fiercely contested by the IWGB union, which represents game workers. The union’s president, Alex Marshall, accused Rockstar of “union-busting,” alleging the employees were targeted for their organizing efforts.
Now, an anonymous but verified Rockstar employee has spoken out on a fan forum, painting a bleak picture of the studio’s current atmosphere. The employee confirmed that the fired individuals were part of a growing union push that had just reached a key membership threshold, granting them the right to collectively bargain for better conditions regarding “worsening crunch, inadequate pay and inflexible working arrangements.”
The most alarming revelation is the state of morale within the team. The employee stated, “Morale in the studio is at rock bottom. When we should be excited about what’s to come over the next year we are now totally deflated and our trust and confidence in others is totally shot.”
This internal crisis raises serious questions about the game’s development timeline. A demoralized and distrustful workforce can significantly impact productivity and creativity, leading to further delays. Industry reporter Jason Schreier has clarified that the recent firings did not cause the current delay, but the subsequent collapse in morale creates a new, substantial risk for the November 2026 target.
